Story

Notes

This fic takes off around Act 12 of the PGSM show. There we will have a big change, from which the story will go more-or-less parallel to canon. Without giving spoilers, the event that kick-starts the fic will start to change things, it’ll be minimum at first, but more and more, until eventually we’ll diverge completely from canon.

For those not familiar with PGSM. You can read this fic without having watched that version of SM. Things that you need to know: the early episodes of the show follow more the events of the manga than the anime (I think). The girls are all Japanese actresses, which means their hair is dark, it only turns the colors seen in the manga and anime when they’re transformed as Sailors (Serenity has black hair too). Luna and Artemis are plushies instead of actual cats (I think this was done because it was easier than trying to train a cat…). Mina, instead of being a girl who dreams of being an idol, is actually one, which affects her story some. Mamoru was in a serious relationship before meeting Usagi, with the daughter of a family who helped him growing up.

I take some liberties with PGSM canon, as my characterization of Serenity is closer to what’s shown in the manga and anime than in the live-action. Also, I start with my characters being older than they are in canon (any canon). This is for various reasons, mostly because it makes it easier for some things that happen in later chapters. While the story isn’t explicit at any point, there will be some adult themes implied eventually. And well, age is supposed to bring some degree of maturity, right? A lot of the characters in SM could do with some of that. I also extend the time that passes between certain events, and just fights in general, to allow for some character development. If there’s one thing I never liked about SM, it’s the way all of Usagi’s faults (and some of the other girls’ as well) are exaggerated, to an extreme I tend to find bothersome. I don’t change anyone entirely, but I do try to explain some of things in ways I believe can be considered logical in SM-canon, and improve things slowly where possible.

The story has more pairings that the ones listed in the tags. The ones I don’t list is because I don’t want to give spoilers for the story.

I hope you’ll give this story a chance, and that you’ll enjoy it. Thanks for reading!
