Artist Showcase: Spennig for Pathfinder by Jilly James

Reading Time: <1 Minutes

Spennig

I go by Spennig, Sharrianel, and other names online. I'm an introvert who loves to read, play games, and do creative projects. I am primarily a digital artist these days, but have done sketching and painting in different media over the years, as well as excursions into scrapbooking, jewelry, and other creative areas.

  1. Thank you so much for claiming my story and being such a great challenge partner. The cover art is amazing, and the cast image is just as artistic as the cover and banners. You’re wonderfully talented, and I feel priveleged to have worked with you. Thanks again.

  2. I loved this cover, it’s super interesting without spoiling a lot about the story and I love the font work. Great job!

  3. Beautifully elegant cover art. The sun on the horizon makes me wonder if it’s a sunrise for a new beginning, a sunset for an ending, or maybe both. Having finished the story, I’m leaning toward it being both.

I love the use of the alien script behind the title and names. It is a reminder that we are entering a different world. All the pieces together create a lovely package to admire.

    • Thank you! I had a lot of fun digging up Aruebesh script for main title, and for the casting, then digging up Kittât for the sneaky bit under the shadowy holocron outline. I wanted to give hints without waving it around, lol.

Honestly I just had the sun showing vaguely to remind me where the light was coming from for my shading, but I’m a fan of it being both sunrise and sunset. There’s enough colors mixed in that it could be both.

I honestly had a ton of fun painting and putting it together.

      • That is the beauty of art. What you put in as a reminder can become something more, and the items of meaning you tuck into spaces might not become clear until several viewings. It is richer for the layers.

  4. Lovely artwork! I don’t have a lot of Star Wars knowledge so didn’t spot the nuances others have pointed out, but I just love the look!

    Thank you.

  5. The cast illustrations are great – they really helped me feel the spirit of the story that Jilly James was telling. I can clearly see each person’s face, and something of their personality.
